Locust Hill Golf Course
Locust Hill is highly regarded as one of the most outstanding golf courses in the country. This par 72, 6,615-yard course has tight fairways and tough greens, with a course rating of 72.8 and a slope rating of 138.
Our members enjoy the pristine tees, lush fairways, immaculate greens, and strategically placed tee boxes, which provide a true test for golfers of all levels -- scratch golfer, low handicapper, high handicapper, senior golfer, or junior player. In addition, the versatility of the course allows each member of the family to gain more than just fun, whether they are learning the game or have years of experience. For thirty-plus years, Locust Hill hosted and challenged the top LPGA players in the world and was the showpiece for the Ladies' PGA championship in its final four years.
When expanding from nine to eighteen holes in 1927, Locust Hill hired Seymour Dunn, a well-respected architect and golf course designer from Scotland, to develop the course. For more details on Dunn’s background, read our history.
Locust Hill's golf course holes were named in the Scottish tradition (see Course Tour), and when the golf course was finished, the committee named the 18th hole "All Dunn" as a response to a theory that Robert Trent Jones was involved in the design -- Robert Trent Jones merely visited the property as a student while attending Cornell.
Locust Hill has a long history of community-focused charity involvement. In 1966, the Rochester Jaycees presented a Charity Pro-Am tournament at Locust Hill Country Club with Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Doug Sanders, and Bruce Devlin. Nicklaus drove the green on a 360-yard par 4 and two-putted for birdie, while Palmer holed out for eagle on the 466-yard eighth hole. They professed their love for our Rochester Championship Golf Course after their rounds.
Locust Hill Country Club continues this proud tradition and hosts many charity golf outings throughout each season.
